Dr. William Garrity is board-certified in family medicine, neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Dr. Garrity provides a wide range of primary care, family medicine, and spine services to serve patients of all ages.
Dr. Garrity graduated magna cum laude from Boston College and earned a master's degree from American International College. After graduating with honors from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, he pursued an additional 4 years of training in internal medicine and pediatrics/adolescent medicine at Yale New Haven and Bridgeport Hospitals before starting his medical practice. While practicing medicine, Dr. Garrity has completed more than 2,000 hours of professional development training in family medicine and surgery, osteopathic manipulative medicine, neurology and musculoskeletal medicine.
Dr. Garrity is fellowship-trained in health policy and has completed an additional Master's of Health degree. These credentials serve Dr. Garrity well when researching, developing, and implementing various primary care programs. For instance, Dr. Garrity completed research in obesity prevention while at the North Central Regional Health Department in Enfield, Connecticut. His interest in bariatric medicine continues today with this practice's bariatric medicine and weight loss programs.
Dr. Garrity serves as an associate professor of medicine at the University of New England. Additionally, he lectures throughout the United States. Topics include internal medicine, pediatric and adolescent medicine, family medicine, preventive medicine, neurology and musculoskeletal medicine, as well as infectious disease.
Within these organizations, Dr. Garrity has held several positions, including Chair of the Publications Committee and Vice Chair of the Bylaws Committee for the American Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, and on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Osteopathic Medical Society. He is Chair of the Certifying Board of Family Practice for the American Board of Physician Specialists. Dr. Garrity has been appointed to be a delegate to represent and vote on behalf of the Hartford County Medical Society at the Connecticut State Medical Society House of Delegates Annual Meeting.
After extensive academic and hospital training Dr. Garrity's daughter, Heather Garrity-Russo, RN, has joined the practice.
